Kickin' it with Kiz: Chokeland Faiders fans lurking in Colorado are NFL rebels without a clue

It’s the Raiders, always the Raiders, as the rival that Broncos fans love to hate the most. While I can see disliking Kansas City as a team, it’s when you add the fan bases to the equation that the scale is tipped. The worst are Denver-born fans of the Raiders. Worse? We have them in my family. No rhyme or reason why they like the Raiders other than to tick me off.

    – Frank, Northsider forever!

Kiz: Raiders fans lurking among us in Colorado are NFL rebels without a clue. And they’ve been an eyesore in Denver longer than the brown cloud.

The Raiders? I hate the team with that tight end and a rock star more. My disgust prevents me from mentioning the team, its quarterback, the tight end or the rock star by name.

    – Sean, speak no evil

Kiz: Rock star? When Taylor Swift writes her next rock song, it will be her first.

As far as I’m concerned, they will always be the Chokeland Faiders, wherever they may roam or call home.

    – G.K., bleeds orange

Kiz: Nobody asked me, but... one of the great travesties of sports in the 21st century has been ripping the athletic soul from Oakland, as franchise owners in search of greener pastures have uprooted the Warriors, Raiders and A’s from some of the most diehard fans in America.

The NFL team I hate most is whatever team Aaron Rodgers plays for.

    – Geoff, Fort Myers, Fla.

Kiz: A-Rod? How did the Jets’ gray-beard quarterback get taken down in this hatefest for the Raiders and Chiefs? Seems like a gratuitous shot. Of course, some might argue that without gratuitous snark, Kickin’ It Headquarters would have no reason to exist.

Despite the 2-2 start, I don’t see the Broncos making the playoffs this year. And that’s fine, so long as we see Bo Nix develop as a quarterback. And, frankly, we need to see Sean Payton develop as a coach. I’d love to see a tight end show up in the offense and left tackle Garett Bolles get back to his former self. My game ball at this point of the season goes to much-maligned Vance Joseph. His defense has been darn impressive.

    – Mark, Denver

Kiz: If I understand the football wisdom of Payton correctly, the Broncos can’t be special unless they finish better than 3-3 against AFC West foes. By that standard, before these Broncos can even entertain the notion of making the playoffs, they must win the next two games on their schedule — against Las Vegas and the Los Angeles Chargers.

And today’s parting shot is a thanks-but-no-thanks RSVP to the bacchanal that Coach Prime and the Buffs are throwing next weekend at Folsom Field.

Well, so much for no more late starts to CU football games after leaving the Pac-12 Conference for the Big 12. An 8:15 p.m. kickoff? Gotta love a game that ends around midnight. I will read all about the game while drinking a cup of coffee in the morning.

    – J.G., not a night owl
