    How are your finances? Study shows Iowans ranks among least financially distressed

    Many Americans can relate to financial distress, especially in the last few years. Inflation, fluctuating unemployment, public health crises and more have made it difficult for some Americans to pay their bills, WalletHub Financial said .

    WalletHub compared the 50 states across nine key metrics to see how financial trouble varies across the country. It reviewed factors like the average credit score and the change in the number of bankruptcy filings between March 2023 and March 2024.

    2. Iowa

    How did Iowa compare to other states?

    Overall, Iowa was ranked 49 out of all 50 states. It ranked 37th overall for credit scores in March 2024 and last for the change in the share of people with accounts in distress. That means Iowans are paying off their credit card debt. Iowa ranked 17th for the change in the number of people filing for bankruptcy between March 2023 and March 2024.

    Iowa ranked 46th for loan search interest, checking Google and other search engines less often for loan and financial advice than most Americans.
