'Golden Bachelorette' features a contestant from Iowa — and it's not Gerry Turner

Another Iowan has made it to "The Bachelor" franchise and will be a contestant in the upcoming "Golden Bachelorette."

The "golden" version of the franchise launched in 2023 with an Iowan at the center.

Who is Jonathan from Oakland, Iowa?

One of 24 men competing on the first version with a female lead will be 61-year-old Jonathan, a shipping consultant from Oakland, Iowa near Council Bluffs.

ABC did not release the last names of the contestants and more details about Jonathan were not immediately available.

"I feel like I'm very mindful and want to do thoughtful things for the person that I love," Jonathan said in an Instagram video posted by the show . He also described himself as a "hopeful romantic."

When will 'The Golden Bachelorette' premiere?

Joan Vassos is the first "Golden Bachelorette ." The 2024 season will premier on ABC on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. Central.

'The Bachelor' franchise features several Iowa ties in its history

In 2023, the series' first "Golden Bachelor" was an Iowan . Gerry Turner spent most of his life in Iowa before moving to Indiana in retirement. He was 71 when he entered the dating show for seniors, after losing Toni, his wife of 43 years, to illness in 2017.

The season ended with Turner proposing to Theresa Nist and ABC hosting a live wedding special in January . The couple announced in April that they were divorcing .

Northeast Iowa farmer Chris Soules helmed his own season in 2015 after appearing as a suiter on "The Bachelorette."

Mercedes Northup, who hails from Bloomfield and now lives in Nashville, appeared on Zach Shallcross' recent season of the rosy dating competition. Caleb Balgaard or "Caleb B." attended Iowa Western Community College and was also a contestant on the current season of "The Bachelorette."

How to watch Iowan on 'Golden Bachelorette'

The series premieres on Sept. 18 and will air weekly at 7 p.m. central Wednesdays on ABC (WOI, Local 5 in central Iowa). Episodes are also available to stream the next day on Hulu.
