    Back to School Night at Perry Farmers Market

    4-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19 on Second Street between Warford and Willis.

    Join the Perry Farmers Market from 4-7 p.m. every Thursday, but especially on the Third Thursday of the month for special events. Thursday, Aug. 15 is Back To School Night. Special guests will surely help get you in the Back to School spirit, including Perry Community School District, St. Pat's, Perry Public Library, Perry Booster Club, PHS Music, New Opportunities, DMACC VanKirk Career Academy, Dallas County Health Department and ISU Extension. Plus, Showtime Dance Studio will have registration at the studio from 5-7 p.m. and a performance at 6 p.m. on 2nd Street.

    Perry Sidewalk Sales

    Aug. 16-17 at Perry businesses.

    The Perry Merchants Group is hosting a Sidewalk Sale event on Friday, Aug. 16 and Saturday, Aug. 17 Stop by participating businesses to shop sale racks, displays and fixtures! Participating businesses include Backwards Boutique, Betsy Peterson Designs, Blonde Sisters Boutique, Gatherings on 2nd, Harper Rose's Floral & Gifts, Mary Rose Collective, Perry Flowers By Donna Jean, Susie's Shop and The Scottish Fox.     Art in the Park

    10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 at 505 Grant St., Van Meter.

    Van Meter Parks and Rec is hosting Art in the Park on Saturday, Aug. 17 and invites the community to add to Rosco the Painted Rock Snake. Supplies will be provided. Feel free to bring a rock of your own or paint one of ours!

    High Trestle Trail and Raccoon River Valley Trail Connection Ride to Ribbon Cutting

    11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 starting at Perry's trailhead.

    After a decade of anticipation, High Trestle Trail and Raccoon River Valley Trail will be connected. What better way to celebrate than with a scenic bike ride on Saturday, Aug. 17. The ride will begin at 11 a.m. at the trailhead in Perry, near the iconic Big Bike. The route will head out from Perry to Bouton and Woodward before returning to Bouton for the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. Luke Hoffman, Executive Director of the Iowa Bicycle Coalition, will lead the ride. This is a leisurely ride, not a race. Feel free to ride at your own pace. Food and beverages are available at various businesses along the trail in Perry, Bouton, and Woodward. Helmets are strongly recommended for everyone's safety. Participation is free.     Prairie Hike

    6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 at Kuehn Conservation Area, 32828 Houston Trail, Earlham.

    Break up your week with a colorful hike! Join a Dallas County Conservation Board naturalist for a prairie hike to appreciate the blooming flora in Kuehn's prairie.

    Friday Funday Paddle

    4:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23 at TBD.

    Kick your weekend off the right way, in the wilds of Dallas County with other paddlers! Find a community of people with similar interests and share time on the water as we learn about the wildest places in Dallas County. Location/route will be determined the week of the event, based on current water levels around Dallas County. Participants must provide your own boats, paddles, and life jackets. Registration is required through DCCB's Eventbrite page .

    Dallas Center Fall Festival

    Aug. 23-24 in Dallas Center.

    Dive into Dallas Center and come enjoy the annual Fall Festival. The event will feature a carnival, parade, sand volleyball, bags and pickleball tournaments , pie eating contest, car show, quilt show, pedal pull, 5K and toddler trot , bingo, live music, fireworks, and more. Carnival tickets are also available for pre-sale through 5-8 p.m. on Aug. 23 at local Dallas Center businesses, including Kids Korner, Korner Cone, Sugar Grove Goods, Raccoon Valley Bank, The Baker's Pantry, and the library. All presale ticket proceeds are retained by the DC Celebrations Committee. Any tickets bought after 4 p.m. on Aug. 23 go directly to the carnival.     Granger Days

    Aug. 23-24 at Centennial Park in Granger.

    Granger Days will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23 with a movie in the park at Centennial Park and then with Standing Hampton taking the stage outside Bud’s Pub on Main Street at 8 p.m. The festivities continue on Saturday, Aug. 24 with a pancake breakfast, 5K and a parade. Other activities for people of all ages include children’s inflatables, rock wall, dunk tank, parade, bags tournament, sand volleyball tournament, pizza, pints & puzzle, music by Spotlight Entertainment DJ Service, vendor village, live music by Jake Schrodt and David Watson, beer and wine slushies, food trucks, a movie in the park, and fireworks. Wristbands are on sale at City Hall, 1906 Main St., at the cost of $8 each or 3 for $20. The price will go up to $10 each on the day of the event. Ages 4 and under are free!     Waukee Yoga in the Park

    8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 at Windfield Park, Waukee.

    Join SPENGA for Yoga in the Park on Saturdays, Aug. 24! Bring a towel or mat and $5 for admission to get in the flow with certified instructors. Both sessions are 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Windfield Park.

    ¡Viva Perry! Latino Festival

    10 a.m. - 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 at Pattee Park.

    Hispanics United for Perry will present the annual ¡Viva Perry! Latino Festival on Saturday, Aug. 24. The parade will kick off the festivities at 10 a.m. The parade, open to anyone looking to participate, will start at 12th Street and Willis by the Hamlin Bell Apartments and will head to Pattee Park. Activities in the park include music, dancers, kids activities, food, vendors, and more from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.

    Movie in the Park

    8:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24 at Evans Park, Adel.

    Join Adel Parks and Rec for a free showing of "Wish" on Friday, Aug. 24 at Evans Park. Bring your own lawn chair, blanket, snacks and drinks. Popcorn is provided. The movie begins at sunset.

    RVTV Perry Tailgate

    3-10 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2 in downtown Perry.

    Join the city of Perry and Perry Chamber of Commerce on Monday, Sept. 2 for an epic tailgate event featuring pep rally, live music, food, contests, and games, as well as live broadcasts by WHO-TV13!
