    Two Iowa parks make list of 100 Most Breathtaking Views in America

    Two Iowa state parks were recently noted for their beautiful views, joining a list that includes Cape Cod, Manhattan’s skyline, the Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls.

    Pikes Peak State Park and the Loess Hills were included in Mixbook’s list of the 100 Most Breathtaking Views in America.

    The list was released just in time for World Photography Day, Aug. 19.

    Mixbook, a popular photobook company, surveyed 3,000 Americans to create the list of the 100 most photo-worthy views in the United States.

    How did Iowa's Pikes Peak State Park rate for most breathtaking views?

    Pikes Peak, located in McGregor, came in 47th place overall, with the park's overlook getting specific recognition.

    “The overlook at Pikes Peak State Park offers a stunning view of the confluence of the Mississippi and Wisconsin Rivers,” a news release from Mixbook stated. “The viewpoint provides a panoramic vista of the river valleys, particularly beautiful at sunrise.”

    How did the Loess Hills rate for most breathtaking views?

    For the Loess Hills, which placed, 87th, the Murray Hill Scenic Overlook was the most photogenic scene.

    The overlook in western Iowa's Harrison County “offers a unique view of this distinctive landscape. The viewpoint provides a sweeping view of the rolling hills and valleys, particularly dramatic during sunrise or sunset,” according to the release.
