How can I audition for 'American Idol' in Iowa?

The open call virtual Zoom auditions for Iowans will be hosted on Friday, Sept. 6. Hopefuls can audition for the first round of the show's eighth season and have the chance to be crowned the next "American Idol."

For audition applications, you can visit abc.com/shows/american-idol/auditions , where you will receive a time and login information. You can also submit a video audition.

Are there requirements to audition for 'American Idol' in Iowa?

There are eligibility requirements before you can audition for "American Idol" virtually, including, but not limited to:

• You must be born on or between June 2, 1995 and February 15, 2010.
• You must be a legal U.S. resident and be authorized to participate in the entire competition portion of the program.
• You are ineligible to participate in the program if you competed in any previous season of American Idol and placed first in the competition.
• You must be able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of producer that you do not have any contractual arrangement that would prohibit you from fully participating.
