UNI swimming rising senior Olivia Chambers earned a Paralympic gold medal for Team USA in the women's 400 freestyle in Paris on Saturday.

Chambers, an Arkansas native, is competing in her first Paralympic Games and claimed her first medal on Saturday morning. She blew away the field, finishing with a time of 4:29.93 minutes, nearly two full seconds ahead of any of her competition. Chambers led the race from start to finish.

The senior claimed six medals at the 2023 Para Swimming World Championships. She is scheduled to compete in three more events before her run in Paris ends. On Monday she'll hit the pool looking to claim the 50 freestyle. On Tuesday she'll compete in the 200 IM and on Thursday she'll wrap up her Games in the 100 breaststroke.

All events can be seen on Peacock.
