Iowa State football: See which former Cyclones players stood out in Week 4 of NFL season

Week 4 of the 2024 NFL season is in the books, and several former Iowa State football players had huge hands in their teams' performances.

The collection of ex- Cyclones in the NFL continues to grow, with several more added to rosters this season after having around a dozen consistently active last season. While the star-studded names like Brock Purdy, Breece Hall, Allen Lazard and David Montgomery continue to shine week after week, several other names Iowa State fans will recognize are making significant impacts at the pro level too.

With that, here are a few ex-Cyclones who stood out in Week 4 of the NFL season.

Allen Lazard, New York Jets WR

It was a rough day overall for the New York Jets, but Lazard managed to salvage a decent day.

The former Iowa State wide receiver hauled in five receptions on eight targets — both team highs — for 58 yards. A 25-yard reception punctuated Lazard's day.

Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers QB

Purdy and the 49ers desperately needed to rebound after consecutive losses, and they did with Sunday's 30-13 win over the New England Patriots.

The former Iowa State quarterback finished 15-for-27 passing for 288 yards with one touchdown and an interception. Purdy also added five carries for 11 yards.

With San Francisco's offense back at full strength, Purdy leaned on his cavalcade of playmakers. He found George Kittle for a touchdown and hit Jauan Jennings, Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk all for at least one 30-yard reception.

    David Montgomery, Detroit Lions RB

The former Iowa State running back and his Detroit teammates put on an offensive show Monday night.

In the Lions' 42-29 win over the Seattle Seahawks, Montgomery piled up 80 total yards — 40 receiving, 40 rushing — with a 1-yard TD run and one huge highlight. This reception and run after is easily Montgomery's most impressive NFL play.

It seems he and the Lions are back on track with consecutive wins after a stunning Week 2 loss to the Tampa Bay Bucs.
