H-O-T-T-O-G-O, these ARL kittens are on the go!

Singer Chappell Roan wasn't the only one who made a trip to Council Bluffs on Thursday night when she played the Westfair Amphitheater. Six cuddly kittens met the Midwest Princess of Pop there.

From 'Whiskerland' to the Midwest Princess Tour

This summer, the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, or ARL, hosted a “Whiskerland” adoption promotion, inspired by the famous Iowa music festival Hinterland. Most of the pets were named for the festival's headliners, including one named Chappell Bone, and it didn't go unnoticed.

Kenzie Miller, event manager at ARL, said Roan's team reached out to the rescue center after seeing "Whiskerland" and a "Hot To Go"-inspired TikTok from the Animal Rescue League.

When Roan's team requested some kitten cuddle time before her Council Bluffs performance, ARL couldn't say no.

"Kittens often benefit from socializing with a variety of people," Miller told the Des Moines Register. "The morning of the concert, we set up our van for a field trip, including a spacious kitty kennel for the drive, and started our trip."

The cuddle puddle was real, and Roan got to see six kittens with autumn-themed names like Squash, Cinnamon and Turkey. Even the concert crew joined in on the fun, Miller said.

How can I adopt a kitten from ARL Iowa?

These kittens — officially part of the "Pink Pony Club" — aren't ready for adoption just yet, Miller said. But, there are still more than 200 that are.

Two Iowa-based drag queens opened the show: Domita Sanchez from Des Moines, and Daphne Danger from Iowa City.
