    Public restrooms can be complicated.

Some can be quite nice, while others might have you regretting your life choices the moment your derrière meets the toilet seat.

But if you're traveling in Iowa and can't wait to use the restroom at home, Kum & Go convenience stores might be the answer.

Kum & Go's parent company, Maverik, was recently named America’s Best Restroom , according to Cintas, a company that provides businesses with workplace services and products.

Voting for America's Best Restroom started in July, and Maverik was among the 10 finalists chosen based on cleanliness, visual appeal and unique design elements. Other finalists included the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium and Lambeau Field, home to the NFL's Green Bay Packers.

As this year’s winner, Maverik received Cintas UltraClean service, $2,500 in Cintas products and a spot in Cintas Best Restroom Hall of Fame.

What did Cintas say about Maverik's bathrooms?

“They have set a high standard of cleanliness in their stores and restrooms, enhancing the overall customer experience," said John Rudy, Cintas' senior director of marketing. "With touchless fixtures, spacious stalls, and family-friendly features, Maverik goes the extra mile, turning every pit stop into a pleasant adventure.”

What have others said about Maverik's restrooms?

Gas Buddy previously recognized Maverik as the place with the cleanest gas station restrooms in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, and Utah.

USA TODAY's 10Best Reader Choice Awards also recognized Maverik as one of the nation's best gas station brands .

What is Maverik's relationship with Kum & Go?

Maverik purchased Kum & Go from Des Moines-based Krause Group in 2023. The value of the deal was not disclosed, though it was reported the Krause Group was seeking $2 billion.

The deal includes Kum & Go's roughly 400 stores in 13 states, including the nearly 100 locations in Iowa.

Existing Kum & Go stores have or are planned to be rebranded in Idaho, Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming. In Iowa, the name will remain Kum & Go, though Maverik executives have considered a change to Maverik in the future.
