Fire breaks out near Indian Canyon, San Rafael in Palm Springs

Palm Springs firefighters were responding late Friday morning to a fire near the intersection of Indian Canyon Drive and San Rafael Drive.

A large plume of black smoke was visible and appeared to be coming from open walled-off area located within a stretch of mostly industrial and car-oriented businesses on the north side of San Rafael Drive west of Indian Canyon Drive.

As of 11:25 a.m., cars were being rerouted around the area where firefighters were working on San Rafael Drive. This is a developing story.
