    Palm Desert's comeback falls short in season-opening football loss

    Palm Desert High School's football team fell behind 30-7 after three quarters en route to suffering a 36-20 loss at Brawley in the season opener Friday night.

    The Aztecs tallied two fourth-quarter touchdowns to close within 30-20 with about three minutes remaining.

    Darius Pine got a defensive score for the Aztecs with a 2-yard fumble return for a touchdown.

    Later in the fourth quarter, Connor Orfield tossed a 15-yard pass to Jackson Wilson for the Aztecs' final score.

    The Aztecs (0-1) hosts Central (El Centro) at 7 p.m. Friday.
