McDonald's Boo Buckets are back, but some fans aren't pleased. Here's when you can get one

McDonald’s has officially brought back their Boo Buckets for the spooky season after several weeks of speculation over the buckets’ design and when they’d return.

The popular Happy Meal pail that debuted in 1986 can be used to collect scores of candy when trick-or-treating.

The buckets for 2024 come in white, orange, light green and light blue. Each pail features its own smiling creature and will come with stickers to allow customers to dress them up as they please, USA TODAY reported .

When can I purchase Boo Buckets at McDonald’s?

The Boo Buckets will be available starting Tuesday, Oct. 15. Customers can get one by purchasing a Happy Meal. The pails will be available at participating locations while supplies last, according to McDonald’s.

When the Boo Buckets debuted in 1986, the buckets were all orange with different faces reminiscent of a jack-o’-lantern, Parade reported . While the pails have changed in appearance throughout the years — such as the glow-in-the-dark buckets that included a green witch design and a white ghost design, Parade reported — it seems some people are not too pleased with the Boo Buckets’ appearance this year.

“Please stop changing the look and bring back the old school ones in the '90s,” wrote one Instagram user.

“Don’t like these designs you should’ve stuck with the old ones,” said another Instagram comment.

"We just wanted lids back with the old design. This isn't it!" an Instagram user wrote.

Many social media users first shared their disappointment in the buckets’ appearance in September when food reviewer Snackolator revealed a picture of the Boo Buckets for 2024. However, it was unclear at the time whether those Boo Buckets would be available at McDonald’s in America.
