    It's fall, y'all.

    That didn't feel the least bit natural to type, but I did it for the rhyme! Anyway, if you'd like to fill your calendar will fall fun this week, we've put together a list of 12 things happening between Oct. 21 and 27 in the valley and nearby communities.

    Musonium Gallery presents 'Homage'

    Come view this collection of new acrylic renditions of many of history's most recognizable paintings. This new solo exhibit of works by artist Bob Doucette explores everything from symbolically fueled prehistoric cave paintings to Renaissance masterpieces reflecting a time of rebirth and discovery. As the press release states, "Doucette's new body of work invites viewers to join a fantastical journey through time, where popsurrealism penetrates many of history's most profound artworks, creating contemporary yet familiar representations that challenge how we interpret the narratives behind the original masterpieces."

    Desert Candlelight Concerts presents Rebecca Clark

    Desert Candlelight Concerts is back for another season of intimate and unique concerts. This week, the series will host vocalist Rebecca Clark, who will pay tribute to the legendary Barbra Streisand. As the event description says, "from timeless ballads to unforgettable show tunes, this concert promises to be an extraordinary evening filled with emotion, nostalgia, and admiration for one of the greatest vocalists of all time." Patrons must be 10 or older, and an adult must accompany anyone under the age of 16.

    When: Pre-concert happy hour with wine, beer and soft drinks available to purchase at 5 p.m., doors open at 5:45 p.m. and concert starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23

    Modernism Week — October

    Architecture fans, it's finally that time of year. Get a taste of what's to come this February at Modernism Week via its smaller sister event, Modernism Week — October . This week is filled with home tours, lectures, film screenings, double-decker bus neighborhood tours and more. So, whether you're a huge fan of Albert Frey architecture, love vintage design, or are a complete newbie to local mid-century modern history, there's something at this four-day event for everyone.

    Frey House II Tours

    Seize the rare opportunity to enjoy a self-guided tour of the residence of modernist architect Albert Frey until the end of this week. A limited number of people can enjoy this unique experience and gain insight into this modern master’s architectural sensibility at the last of the available tours thanks to the Palm Springs Art Museum.

    Palm Canyon Theatre presents 'La Cage Aux Folles'

    The first Broadway musical to tell the story of a gay relationship is headed to Palm Springs. Travel — figuratively — to France for an evening of glamorous drag and storytelling with this Palm Canyon Theatre production based on the 1973 French play of the same name. This glitzy musical, as the press release states, is "set in a Saint-Tropez drag nightclub run by Georges and his partner Albin (AKA Zaza), the star performer. When George's son brings home his bride-to-be and her bigoted politician father, farcical adventures ensue as they dance around the 'family business.'"

    When: 7 p.m. on Thursdays, 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. on Sundays Oct. 25-Nov. 10

    Savage Palm Springs Gallery's 'Momentum' Artist Reception

    Savage Art Gallery, which now goes by the name Savage Palm Springs, will open its first group show, "Momentum," this week. Savage Palm Springs is a contemporary art gallery located in the heart of the city's Uptown Design District, and although it still showcases the artwork of its late namesake and founder Shawn Savage, it's evolved into a multi-artist gallery, offering a diverse range of works from various talents. Come celebrate the multi-decade career of Savage in light of his passing earlier this summer, and enjoy works by featured artists such as Heather McFarlin, Alan Vietze, Karl Kaiser and more.

    Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Contest

    Bring your cherished furry friend dressed up in a costume to this gathering in Cathedral City for a chance to win prizes ranging from $25 to $75.

    The Living Desert's Howl-O-Ween

    The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens' annual Halloween event, Howl-O-Ween, has something for everyone. This family-friendly celebration includes Halloween activities and pop-up experiences throughout the park, such as trick-or-treat stations (bring your own bag), face painting, themed arts and crafts, and more. Visitors can also explore the botanical gardens and see the 600 animals. Delicious treats such as craft beer, specialty cocktails, and kid-friendly "worm juice" will be available.

    Friends of the Palm Springs Library's Art, Architecture + Design Book Sale

    Browse a collection of gently used, vintage, international and some one-of-a-kind art, architecture and interior design books at this sale, appropriately being held during Modernism Week — October . Many copies are autographed or are limited editions, so this is a must-attend if you're a diehard architecture fan. Nanci Morrison, president of the Friends of the Palm Springs Library said last year's event was a "big hit," and the high attendance inspired the group to add art books to the sale. "It's a wonderful addition to the Modernism weekend schedule ... it gives fans of art, architecture and design an opportunity to add to their own personal libraries and buy books that they may not have access to, at a great price, so everybody wins!” This sale supports Friends of the Palm Springs Library, which raises money to give the library new materials, furniture, equipment and more.

    James Bacchi Contemporary's 'Gone Mod' Opening Reception

    Halloween Palm Springs in Arenas District

    Prepare for a spooktacular time at Palm Springs' most famous Halloween event. Head to the Arenas District for this block party, which is exclusively for those age 21 and older and will feature cocktails, a costume contest with over $1,500 in prizes, and live music performances by R&B, soul, and disco singer Thelma Houston, former SNAP! singer Thea Austin and local musician Jesika von Rabbit. Masters of Ceremonies for the event will be local drag personality Bella da Ball, John Taylor from KGAY 106.5 FM and Alexander Rodriguez.
