This Memorial Day weekend in metro Detroit is brimming with events that offer something for everyone. Dance and groove to live music at the Movement Festival in Detroit, immerse yourself in cultural festivities at a Greek celebration in Bloomfield Hills, enjoy a carnival and music in Hazel Park, sample a variety of craft beverages in Royal Oak and attend one of the nation’s oldest Memorial Day parades in Dearborn.
Detroit's Movement Festival
The Movement Festival, one of the longest-running dance music festivals dedicated to authentic electronic music returns to downtown Detroit’s Hart Plaza this Memorial Day weekend. Over three days, more than 115 acts will perform across six stages. The lineup will include headline sets from Fatboy Slim, Solomun, Richie Hawtin, James Blake (DJ set), Dom Dolla, Goldie, DJ Idris Elba, and Kevin Saunderson among others.
In addition to music, the festival will feature a variety of vendors selling unique goods from local artisans, food vendors and art installations, including “Drive In,” an exploration of music and nostalgia by southwest Detroit-based artist Freddy Diaz in collaboration with 1XRUN and the “Respect the Architects” and “Remembering Amp Fiddler” exhibits.

Attendees can enhance their festival experience by downloading the official Movement 2024 app to customize their schedule, discover new artists and view the festival map.
Festival hours are 2 p.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday, and 2-11 p.m. Monday. General admission tickets start at $159, with free entry for children 12 and under.
Ya’ssoo Greek Festival
Celebrate Greek culture with dancing, cuisine, customs, refreshing Ouzo Slushies, activities for kids, cooking demonstrations, eating contests and more. Enjoy music from the Dave Bennett Quartet on Friday, the Magic Bus Band on Saturday and Stigma performing on all three days.
The festival hours are 4-10 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 43816 Woodward Ave., Bloomfield Hills. Admission is $3.
Hazel Park Memorial Weekend Festival
Join the fun at Green Acres Park in Hazel Park this Memorial Day weekend with a carnival midway, live entertainment, vendors and a Memorial Day parade.
The festival runs from 4-10 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and noon to 9 p.m. Monday at 620 W. Woodward Heights Blvd.
Royal Oak Beer, Wine & Cocktail Festival
Sample more than 150 craft beverages, wines, and cocktails from local and national producers at this 21+ outdoor event. There will be live entertainment, food trucks, a commemorative glass, and a keepsake photo with general admission tickets that start at $50.
The event takes place from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Park, 31050 Woodward in Royal Oak.
98th annual Memorial Day Parade and Remembrance Ceremony
This year’s parade in Dearborn will honor Purple Heart recipients and pay tribute to those who lost their lives in service to the United States. The event will feature over 80 regional officials, marching bands, and community groups.
The parade starts at 9:30 a.m. at Michigan Ave. and Nowlin Street and will end at South Brady Street and Michigan Avenue. A formal remembrance ceremony will follow the parade at noon on the front lawn of the Dearborn Historical Museum at 915 Brady St.
