Birmingham's Daxton Hotel ice cream pickup window now open for the summer season

Daxton Delights, a gelato and sorbet pickup window at the Daxton Hotel in downtown Birmingham, is now open for the summer season. Creations from the pastry team at the hotel's Madam restaurant include sundaes ($14) and scoops ($6). All desserts are made from scratch using locally sourced ingredients, including honey from the hotel’s partnership with Bees in the D.

Here's this season's lineup of crafted sundaes:

• Save the Bees — burnt honey gelato, Bees in the D honeycomb, honey brittle
• Cereal City — cereal milk gelato, cornflakes, caramelized milk crumb, Fruity Pebbles
• Fudge Factory — chocolate gelato, brownie chunks, hot fudge, cocoa nibs
• Golden House — vanilla gelato, hot fudge, bourbon caramel, topped with a house made cone and gold flecks
• Rotating Chef’s Special — Detroit Cooler, vanilla gelato, Faygo soda

Also on the menu is a doggie sundae ($6) made with peanut butter and yogurt ice cream and house made sweet potato dog treats.

Daxton Delights window is at the end of the walkway along the north side of the hotel off Old Woodward. It's open 6-9:30 p.m. Thursday-Sunday at 298 S. Old Woodward Ave. in downtown Birmingham.
