Macomb County equestrian compound and parents' grand home next door both for sale

An impressive property in Macomb County that features a stately four-bedroom home, a large stocked spring-fed pond, lush woods, and walking trails on 22.21 acres has recently hit the market for $1.95 million.

For another $995,000, a buyer could pick up the adjacent 14.55-acre equestrian compound that features a three-bedroom Cape Cod-style home, two Morton brand pole barns and a large fenced area suitable for horses or dogs.

The two properties in Richmond Township, just west of I-94, are listed separately. Both listings are represented by Dylan Tent from Signature Sotheby’s International Realty in Northville.

The entire 36-plus acres began with a single owner. Erin Taylor, 55, and her husband purchased three lots when the area was still cornfields about 30 years ago. Taylor, who used to exhibit Arabian horses, built her home in 1993 and then pole barns on the property.

“We kept some of the country's most expensive Arabian horses here,” Taylor said.

Taylor’s parents, who own an induction heating business, wanted to build their dream home so the property was divided, and Taylor said her father, who also was an electrical engineer, was very particular about details.

“He wanted things perfect, which is why it took them three years to build," she said of the country home on the parcel that was completed in 2007.

“It would cost well over the asking price to replicate everything that’s on the estate,” Tent, the listing agent, noted. He also mentioned that the sellers are open to providing a discount if both properties are sold together.

Pond with bass, perch and other types of fish

Located at 69978 Place Road , the newer residence is set far back from the road. It’s accessible via a winding paved driveway illuminated by LED light poles that lead to a long stretch flanked by trees on one side and a large pond with an island on the other. Taylor also mentioned that she gets a tax deduction on her property for allowing a farmer to plant soybeans in a small section of the field behind her woods.
