With a new store as shiny as its brass trumpets inside, the Michigan-made musical instrument store chain Marshall Music Company opened the doors to a new location on Monday.

At 1965 Larchwood Drive in Troy, just 3 miles from the original Troy location, this new location is designated to serve all of metro Detroit, as it replaces the three other Marshall Music locations in Allen Park, Troy and West Bloomfield that have closed their doors with the opening of the new store.

Dating to 1948, Marshall Music Co. offers a variety of musical instruments and accessories for sale, as well as lessons, repairs and school service. The company also has a hand in musical advocacy, working to ensure that music programs are invested in on the local, state and federal level.

The chain has three other locations outside of metro Detroit still remaining: at 3240 E. Saginaw St. in Lansing, at 951 Mall Drive in Portage outside of Kalamazoo and at 1197 S. Airport Road West in Traverse City. A location in Grand Rapids is still listed online, but for band and orchestra repair and rental and retail inquiries only.
