    Verizon users experiencing service outage in Kalamzoo

    Verizon Wireless users in the Kalamazoo area are without cellphone service, due to "major service degradation issues," according to the Kalamazoo County Dispatch Authority .

    The account, affiliated with Kalamazoo Police, posted on Facebook to address the downage. The post reports there is no restoration period yet.

    According to Verizon's network status checker , the network disruption started on Thursday at 2:38 p.m. As of 6 p.m. Thursday, the issue is ongoing. While the Kalamazoo Dispatch account said there is no known restoration period, Verizon's website indicates an estimated 12-24 hours to fix the outage.

    On Down Detector, an online service where users can report service interruptions, more than 600 reports of issues with data, voice, text and wireless home internet came in from Kalamazoo Verizon users around 3 p.m.

    Verizon users who are unable to contact 911 should try to connect to wifi or use a device connected with a different provider, the Dispatch Authority said.
