If you're planning a trip to Greenfield Village next week, be prepared for some closures as the museum brings in a new addition.

As construction crews work to bring the Jackson House , a civil rights monument, onsite, part of the village will be closed to the public on Aug. 27 and Aug. 29. The closures will affect buildings and roads in the Porches and Parlors district and part of the Edison at Work district.

The former residence of Dr. and Mrs. Sullivan Jackson, the Jackson House served as a hub for civil rights activists in Selma, Alabama during the 1960s. The historic home, built in 1912, is coming to Greenfield Village through a collaboration with the couple's daughter, Jawana Jackson.

The Jackson House traveled to Michigan from Alabama in fall 2023 and is in storage awaiting its arrival to Greenfield Village.
