Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is scheduled to speak at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday in Chicago. Watch the speech live here .

Earlier this week, Whitmer, stumping for Vice President Kamala Harris , made a splash with delegates before heading to the convention floor to help announce the ceremonial count of Michigan delegates for Harris.

Whitmer's name was tossed around as a possible replacement for President Joe Biden when he dropped out of the 2024 race, but she repeatedly said she's not interested in running. Democrats, including Whitmer, quickly rallied around Harris after Biden's withdrawal in July.

"I am honored to be sharing the stage on the night that Kamala Harris will have this historic nomination and it's exciting," Whitmer said during an interview with Jason Colthorp on WDIV-TV (Channel 4).

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is expected to speak during the 8:00 (CT) block of the main programming session Thursday night. Here is the speaker schedule for Day 4 .

How to watch Gretchen Whitmer's DNC speech

The convention will air live on its website , from the United Center in Chicago between 7-11 p.m. ET (6-10 p.m. CT) Tuesday through Thursday.

USA TODAY will provide livestream coverage on YouTube each night of the DNC, Monday through Thursday.

What will be in Gretchen Whitmer's DNC speech?

In Whitmer's interview with WDIV-TV, she said it will be "relatively short," but that she will talking about the fundamentals and the stakes in this election.
