Michigan cider mill, apple orchard season begins: Find 1 near you on our list

As fall approaches, pumpkin spice and cozy sweaters will soon be back in style. Coming soon in metro Detroit is another fall classic, cider mills and apple orchards. Michigan offers many great options to pick out your favorite apple varieties and enjoy family-friendly activities while enjoying doughnuts and cider.

Here's a look at when some of metro Detroit's cider mills open this season:

• Big Red Orchard : Open now, with fall hours starting Sept. 4, Wednesday-Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Located at 4900 32 Mile Road, Washington Township.
• Blake's Orchard & Cider Mill : Open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Located at 17985 Armada Center, Armada.
• Blake's Lyon Township : Open daily 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Located at 61475 Silver Lake, Lyon Township.
• Diehl's Orchard & Cider Mill : Open daily 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Located at 1479 Ranch Road, Holly.
• Franklin Cider Mill : Opening Aug. 31 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Located at 7450 Franklin Road, Bloomfield Township.
• Goodison Cider Mill : Opening Labor Day weekend 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Located at 4295 Orion Road, Rochester.
• Hy's Cider Mill : Open Saturdays and Sundays in September and October from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Located at 6350 37 Mile Road, Romeo.
• Long Family Orchard & Farm : Open now. Located at 1540 E. Commerce Road, Commerce Township.
• Parmenter's Northville Cider Mill : Opening Saturday at 10 a.m. Located at 714 Base Line Road, Northville.
• Plymouth Orchards & Cider Mill : Opening Aug. 31 through Nov. 10 daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Located at 10685 Warren, Plymouth.
• Rochester Cider Mill : Open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting Friday. Located at 5125 N. Rochester Road, Rochester.
• Spicer Orchards : Open now daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Located at 10411 Clyde Road, Fenton.
• Stony Creek Orchard & Cider Mill : Opening Sep. 6 at 10 a.m., and open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. this fall. Located at 2961 W. 32 Mile Road, Romeo.
• Three Cedars Farm : Opening Aug. 30 at 10 a.m. Located at 7897 Six Mile Road, Northville.
• Westview Orchards : Open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Located at 65075 Van Dyke Ave., Washington Township.
• Wiard's Orchard : Country fair opening day Sept. 7 at 11 a.m. Located at 5565 Merritt, Ypsilanti.
• Yates Cider Mill : Open daily, Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Located at 1990 E. Avon, Rochester Hills.
