Amon-Ra St. Brown injury update: Detroit Lions WR had contusion and cramping

Amon-Ra St. Brown has seemingly avoided serious injury, and the Detroit Lions and fantasy football owners can breathe a sigh of relief for now.

St. Brown did not return Sunday on the Lions ' final drive of the game trailing 20-16 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Ford Field, after he hobbled off the field with a team trainer following a catch.

St. Brown "initially was determined to have only a contusion and cramping, per source," ESPN reported Monday morning.

Later on Monday, Campbell reiterated that he expects St. Brown to be fine. He said the issue was a "soft tissue" problem in his lower leg.

This aligns with what he said postgame Sunday when asked about St. Brown's status.

"He's alright," Campbell said. "I don't think it is anything long-term, so that's good news."

St. Brown had a game-high 11 catches for 119 yards — a nice rebound from his three-catch, 13-yard showing in Week 1 — and his absence was missed on the Lions' final six plays as they desperately tried to stage a comeback vs. the Bucs.

St. Brown left the field after making a 9-yard catch over the middle on the first play of the Lions' final drive in Bucs territory with 30 seconds left. He stayed down after the play, then exited the playing field with a trainer. He stayed on the sideline while the Lions' medical team stretched his legs upwards.

He received treatment for the final six plays, and the Lions' offense turned it over on downs to finish a frustrating 20-16 loss .

The Lions' depth chart at receiver includes shifty slot guys Kalif Raymond, Tom Kennedy and undrafted rookie and preseason favorite Isaiah Williams , and veteran big-body receiver Tim Patrick .

Raymond had three catches for 27 yards vs. the Bucs, and Patrick had two catches for 12 yards. Speedster Jameson Williams caught a 50-yard deep ball early and finished with five receptions on 11 targets for 79 yards.

The Lions (1-1) visit the Arizona Cardinals (1-1) in Week 3 next Sunday (4:25 p.m., Fox), and host the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football in Week 4.
