Sam Richardson and Tim Robinson of 'Detroiters' team up again for Totino's ad campaign

Just in time for the mid-October arrival of “Detroiters” on Netflix (or, for those not counting the minutes until that happens, just in time for football season), Sam Richardson and Tim Robinson are reuniting.

Specifically, the co-creators and stars of the classic Motor City sitcom “Detroiters” are arguing with a space alien in a new campaign for Totino’s Pizza Rolls that has a “10 Totino’s Pizza Rolls for about $1” tagline.

Richardson and Robinson portray goofball suburban dads who encounter a friendly creature from outer space named Chazmo and proceed to bug him about paying them back for all of their pizza rolls that he consumed.

“You ate, like, probably 70 pizza rolls,” says Richardson in one spot in which Chazmo stresses how affordable the snacks are.

In another, Robinson holds an empty Totino's bag and argues, "These are, like, a hundred bucks!" Yet another has Richardson threatening to mess up Chazmo's spaceship.

The ads will appear this month on streaming sites, social media and channels including Paramout, Hulu, Peacock and Vix.

The new campaign has some comedic credentials: They were done with the help of Zach Kanin — a co-creator, producer and writer of “Detroiters” and Robinson’s Emmy-winning Netflix sketch series, “I Think You Should Leave" — and Alice Mathias, an “I Think You Should Leave” director.

Richardson and Robinson know a little bit about the marketing biz from their two seasons of portraying partners in a small Detroit ad company on “Detroiters.”

That show featured spots created by their characters, Tim Cramblin and Sam Duvet, that were inspired by old real-life local ads for D.O.C.’s “Sexy Specs” (D.O.G.’s “Hunky Specs” in the series), Dittrich Furs (Devereaux Wigs) and Farmer Jack (Farmer Zack).

Also, if pizza rolls in general aren’t an official food group for Michiganders, well, don't they deserve to be?

“Detroiters” reaches Netflix on Oct. 15.
