The wait is over. Playoff baseball is back at Comerica Park.

The Detroit Tigers host the Cleveland Guardians in Game 3 of the ALDS on Wednesday with the series tied 1-1. The Tigers' first home playoff game in a decade will put either Detroit or Cleveland one win away from advancing from the ALCS in Game 4 on Thursday.

The Tigers haven't announced their starter for Game 3, though manager A.J. Hinch told reporters Tuesday that he would inform the Guardians on Tuesday night.

On the other side, the Guardians are rolling with veteran right-handed starter Alex Cobb, who is returning from a blister on his hand. He is 2-1 with a 2.76 ERA over 16⅓ innings in three starts on Aug. 9, Aug. 14 and Sept. 1. Cobb was an All-Star in 2023 as a member of the San Francisco Giants and will be making his third career postseason start.

The Tigers tied the series in Game 2 with a game-winning home run from Kerry Carpenter in the ninth inning to escape with the 3-0 win. Detroit is looking for their first home win in the playoffs since Game 4 of the 2013 ALCS. If not, the Tigers will get a second chance to extend or an opportunity to close the series on Thursday, depending on the results of Game 3.
