Lions vs. Cowboys inactives: James Houston out of playing rotation again in Week 6

ARLINGTON, Texas — James Houston's return to the gameday roster was short-lived.

Houston is one of five inactives for the Detroit Lions for today's game against the Dallas Cowboys , along with offensive lineman Colby Sorsdal and rookies Loren Strickland, Gio Manu and Lauren Strickland.

Houston had eight sacks in seven games as a rookie in 2022, but has not made an impact on the Lions defense since. He missed most of last season with a broken leg and has played just 17 defensive snaps in two games this year.

In Week 4, Houston was flagged twice for offsides penalties in 14 snaps, mostly as a pass rusher. The Lions elevated Isaac Ukwu to the gameday roster from practice squad this week to play in a backup role at outside linebacker.

While the Lions have a relatively roster coming off the bye, the Cowboys (3-2) will be without defensive starters Micah Parsons and Eric Kendricks, who were ruled out with injuries Friday.
