Republican former President Donald Trump will hold an evening rally at Huntington Place in Detroit on Friday, which is shaping up as one of the busiest campaign days of the presidential race in battleground Michigan.

Trump, who is running for reelection, had already announced he would take part in a roundtable discussion in Oakland County earlier on Friday. His opponent, Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, also has campaign events scheduled that day in Grand Rapids, Lansing and Oakland County before campaigning in Detroit on Saturday ahead of a trip to Georgia.

Harris was also in Detroit on Tuesday , where she was set to tape a discussion on "The Morning Show" radio program with host Charlemagne tha God that aired at 5 p.m.

For months, Michigan has been one of the most hotly contested battlegrounds in the presidential campaign, along with Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Arizona, Nevada, Georgia and North Carolina. Last week, Trump gave a long-winded speech to the Detroit Economic Club, outlining his agenda for raising tariffs as a way to help the auto industry but also smearing Detroit as a nationwide model . Harris, meanwhile, visited Flint early this month , bashing Trump as a "loser" on manufacturing jobs.

The Nov. 5 general election was three weeks away from Tuesday.

In announcing the Friday rally, the Trump campaign said Harris, as vice president, "has been disastrous for Michiganders," as inflation has risen, and said she supports proposals to encourage electric vehicle sales that could result in job losses. However, inflation has slowed in recent months compared with a year or so ago and despite Trump's contention to the contrary, there is no "gas-powered car ban" being proposed by Harris or Democratic President Joe Biden.

The rally at Huntington Place on Friday is set to begin at 7 p.m. and members of the public can register for tickets here.
