Detroit Lions CB Carlton Davis III misses practice, should play vs. Minnesota Vikings

Carlton Davis III missed practice Wednesday with a quad injury, but Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell said he expects the team's No. 1 cornerback to be on the field for Sunday's NFC North showdown with the Minnesota Vikings.

Davis left in the third quarter of last week's win over the Dallas Cowboys , when he dove headfirst into tight end Jake Ferguson's legs to make a tackle. He was evaluated for a concussion and did not return, though he was cleared to play.

Davis, who was injured on the same series as Aidan Hutchinson , had an ice pack and bandage on his head in the locker room after the game. He declined an interview request Wednesday to get treatment for his leg.

"I feel good about (him playing) right now," Campbell said before practice Wednesday. "There is a small chance that maybe not, but I think — I’ll know a lot more tomorrow. I don’t see him practicing today, but I feel optimistic."

The Vikings are tied for fifth in the NFL in scoring through six weeks and have one of the game's best receivers in Justin Jefferson.

Offensive tackle Dan Skipper sat out Wednesday's practice with a rib injury and Frank Ragnow and Kevin Zeitler were given veteran rest days. Brian Branch was limited with a knee injury.
