Lions vs. Vikings injury report: Kevin Zeitler out, but Carlton Davis will play

MINNEAPOLIS — The Detroit Lions will try and hold off the Minnesota Vikings' pass rush today without the services of one of their best offensive linemen.

Right guard Kevin Zeitler is inactive for the Lions after injuring his groin in practice this week.

Kayode Awosika is expected to start in Zeitler's place.

Awosika started the Lions' Week 4 win over the Seattle Seahawks at left guard when center Frank Ragnow missed the game with a partially torn pectoral muscle. The Lions won 42-29. Awosika started three regular season games for the Lions last year.

The Vikings lead the NFL in interceptions and rank fourth in scoring defense (15.2 ppg) thanks to an aggressive defensive approach in which they often load the scrimmage with extra defenders to try and confuse opposing quarterbacks and linemen.

Cornerback Carlton Davis (quad) is active for the Lions after missing practice Wednesday and Thursday, and new defensive end Isaiah Thomas is inactive after signing off the Cincinnati Bengals' practice squad last week.

Loren Strickland, Parker Hesse, Gio Manu and Isaiah Williams also are inactive for the Lions (4-1).

The Vikings (5-0) will play without starting linebacker Blake Cashman (toe).
