Graceland UMC's Pastor Drew called away on military leave
Graceland United Methodist Church Pastor Drew Shropshire will be away on military leave from May 17 through June 10. Pastor Drew, a Network Communication Systems Specialist in the Maryland Army National Guard, will travel to Poland for annual training exercises. Immediately following that, he will be participating in the 29th Infantry Division’s D-Day celebration in France. The 29th Infantry Division is known for the battle of the beaches of Normandy, specifically Omaha Beach. Omaha was the most difficult beach for the Allies to invade, with steep cliffs, heavy fortification and difficult terrain. The 29th Infantry were responsible for capturing to the west of the beach on June 6, 1944. J.D. Urbach named president of MD Sons of the American Revolution
The Maryland Society of Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) installed J.D. Urbach of Edgemere as the 101st Maryland State President at their 136th annual meeting held April 27 in Davidsonville. Urbach joined the society in 2013 in honor of an 8th-great grandfather, Joseph Wallen (1734-1792) who served in the Virginia militia during the revolution and was later a longhunter alongside Daniel Boone. Key Bridge rebuild expected to take over 4 years, cost nearly $2B
Maryland plans to rebuild the Francis Scott Key Bridge in just over four years at an estimated cost between $1.7 billion and $1.9 billion, a state transportation official said Thursday. Last weekend, Todd’s Inheritance Historic Site hosted a painting invitational to kick off the 2024 season. Todd’s Inheritance is a historic property first settled by the Todd family in 1664. Key Bridge Update: Crews plan to refloat Dali, clear shipping channel by the end of May
At the site of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse, crews plan to refloat and remove the grounded Dali container ship by the end of next week, allowing more maritime traffic to resume through Baltimore’s port. Families of two Key Bridge victims still wait for recovery of bodies
More than a month has passed since six members of a roadwork crew plunged to their deaths as the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed.
