Port of Baltimore will open 35-foot temporary channel
Officials in Baltimore plan to open a deeper channel for commercial ships to enter and leave the city’s port starting on Thursday — a significant step toward reopening the major maritime shipping hub that has remained closed to most traffic since the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed last month. The new channel will be 35 feet (12 meters) deep, which is a substantial increase over the three other temporary channels established in recent weeks. It puts the cleanup effort slightly ahead of schedule, as officials...

Del. Long statement on Key Bridge recovery
On Tuesday, April 16, I joined Governor Wes Moore and other elected officials to advocate to Congress to fully fund the replacement cost of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. We must hold the parties responsible financially for this catastrophic event. Regardless of political party, we must work together. The collapse of the Key Bridge has created a financial hardship in my district. It is also hurting commuters as the rerouting of traffic is ultimately and affecting everyone. We must work together to help expedite the rebuilding of the Francis Scott Key bridge as soon as humanly possible.
