    Vote for the El Paso Children's Hospital high school Athlete of the Week for Oct. 1-5

    The El Paso Times will honor high school athletes this year every week that you, the readers, help determine. We will be taking weekly nominations and will release a list of finalists for the El Paso Children's Hospital High School Athlete of the Week at 7 a.m. each Tuesday.

    Students in all varsity sports are eligible to be nominated. The poll will close at 3 p.m. each Thursday, and the winners will be announced Friday.

    Nominations can be submitted through email at fchavez@elpasotimes.com or by contacting Felix Chavez through social media on X.

    Here are this week's nominees:

    • Zoeh Cereceres , Chapin volleyball. Cereceres had 50 kills, 16 digs and 3 aces in wins against Andress and Burges.
    • Abby Martinez , Ysleta volleyball. Martinez had 17 kills and 25 digs vs. Clint and 14 kills, 25 digs and 4 aces vs. San Elizario.
    • Isabella Nunez , Americas volleyball. In two wins last week, she had 21 kills, 25 assists, 15 digs, 4 blocks and three aces in wins against Hanks and Del Valle.
    • Dominic Soto , Eastlake football. Soto had two interceptions and a fumble recovery in win against Eastwood. One of the interceptions was returned for a score.
    • Zereian Quarles , Pebble Hills football. Quarles rushed for 274 yards and four touchdowns in win vs. Coronado.
    • Ryan Estrada , El Dorado football. Estrada rushed for 307 yards and scored four touchdowns in win vs. Americas.
    • Damian Briano , Montwood football. Briano passed for 345 yards, completed 34 of 48 passes, threw five touchdown passes and rushed for 54 yards in win vs. Franklin.
    • Omar Nevarez , Mountain View football. He rushed for 155 yards and two scores in a win vs. Clint, which snapped a 12-game loss to the Lions.
