Bonnie Long Edwards

Bonnie Long Edwards, longtime resident and community member of Spring Hope, NC, passed away June 22nd, 2024 after a robust 96 years of life.

In her long career as a nurse anesthetist at Nash General Hospital she touched the lives of many in the community with support and reassurance while they faced health challenges. She loved the work and considered it her calling. In retirement, she continued to find joy in caring for her yard and enjoying the variety of birds, squirrels and other wildlife that would regularly visit. She spent her last six years in Texas, living near her son who looked after her care. Bonnie now joins her husband Devon, her son Johnny Earl Matthews, and all of her brothers and sisters in eternity. She is survived by her son, George Edwards.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on July 19th, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Spring Hope. In lieu of flowers, contributions to a North Carolina Wildlife fund are encouraged to help preserve the wildlife and natural beauty in North Carolina that Bonnie so dearly loved.
