SPRING HOPE — The C.C. Spaulding Alumni Association will hold its annual reunion this weekend with events at multiple Nash County locations.

This year’s theme is “Fifty Years of Keeping the Spaulding Spirit Alive.”

A  6 p.m. fish fry at the Spaulding Family Resource Center gym will kick-start the fun on Friday, followed by a banquet and dance on Saturday at the O.D. Moore Building in Nashville. Those festivities will start at 5 p.m.

The fun wraps on Sunday with a “Day in the Park” planned for 3 p.m. at the Teachers’ Home, located at 324 School Road.

Monique Perry-Graves, executive director for the North Carolina region of Teach for America, will speak at the event.

A product of the Wake County public school system, Perry-Graves holds degrees from North Carolina Central University, Seton Hall University and the University of Florida, where she completed her doctoral studies.

Prior to her work with Teach for America, Perry-Graves was a fixture at York Technical College in York, South Carolina, leading the student affairs and enrollment management divisions at its Chester and Lancaster County campuses.

During her tenure at York, she earned the A. Wade Martin Innovator of the Year Award, given annually to an employee whose work has made a landmark impact on the South Carolina Technical College System or one of its schools.

Active on numerous boards and advisory committees — including Gov. Roy Cooper’s diversity-inspired DRIVE Task Force — Perry-Graves fills her free time with books, spa visits and true crime programs.
