Editor's note: Information previously supplied by the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office said the victim was from Pennsylvania. This story has been updated to reflect a correction from the DA's office that the man who died is from North Carolina. The passenger who was in the vehicle is from Pennsylvania.

STOUGHTON — A North Carolina man was killed in a two-car crash that seriously injured two others in Stoughton early Wednesday morning, officials said.

Stoughton Police responded to the crash, located in the vicinity of 1463 Turnpike St., at around 6:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.

According to police, a black Cadillac with two male occupants and a Toyota Highlander operated by a Quincy woman were involved in the crash.

All three people involved were transported to Boston Medical Center where the driver of the Cadillac, Michael Unman, 59, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, was pronounced dead, officials said.

The passenger of the Cadillac, of Pennsylvania, was described as having serious injuries.

The driver of the Toyota regained consciousness and communicated with medical providers on scene, officials said. She reported that she was heading home from working an overnight shift at a local hotel.

It is unclear what caused the crash at this time, but officials said no charges or citations have been issued at this time.

Stoughton Police, Massachusetts State Police investigators from the Crime Scene Services and Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Sections, and the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office Motor Vehicle Homicide Unit continue to investigate the crash, officials said.

A portion of Turnpike Street between Pleasant and Page Streets was immediately closed following the crash. As of 1 p.m., the road remained closed due to downed wires from a telephone pole that was damaged in the crash.
