    Harvest, cranberry festivals, scavenger hunt: Fun things to do this weekend near Brockton

    BROCKTON — From harvest festivals, shopping events and family-fun activities, there are plenty of things to do in the Brockton area this weekend.

    The annual Downtown Fest Brockton fall festival will be held with vendors, music and children's activities.

    Levitate’s New England Flannel Jam will take over the Marshfield Fairgrounds will a full day of music. The event will also include experiential art and Levitate’s fall line flannel release, hot cider doughnuts, hot cider and whisky, kids’ activities and more.

    Families can wear a costume and follow the clues at a "Not-So-Scary Scavenger Hunt" at Winslow Farm Animal Sanctuary in Norton.

    This weekend is a big to-do for bargain hunters, as the St. Thomas Aquinas Parish Center and Central Square Congregational Church are holding rummage sales on Saturday.

    Here are eight fun things to do this weekend. Get outside, enjoy the fresh fall air, and have some fun.

    Annual Downtown Fest Brockton

    The annual Downtown Fest Brockton fall festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, at City Hall Plaza.

    The event will include vendors, music, food and children's activities and more.

    Downtown Fest Brockton is presented by The Downtown Brockton Museum in collaboration with Brockton and area businesses and organizations.

    Levitate Marshfield Flannel Jam

    Levitate New England Flannel Jam will take over the Marshfield Fairgrounds, 140 Main St., from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12

    The event features live music, experiential art and Levitate’s fall line flannel release. Hot cider doughnuts, hot cider and whisky, kids’ activities and more will also be part of the daylong event.

    This year's lineup includes Birch Swart's Grateful Country , . Birdtalker , Evan Honer , Hans Williams , Jay Psaros Band , Margo Price , Miss Julia Violet and Trampled by Turtles .

    Tickets/admission: $89-$149.

    'Not-So-Scary Scavenger Hunt’ in Norton

    Winslow Farm Animal Sanctuary , 37 Eddy St., is hosting a Not-So-Scary Scavenger Hunt weekends in October.

    Make sure to wear your costume and follow the clues through the farm. At the end of the hunt, is where you will find your treat.

    The event will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 12, 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 13, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 19, 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 20, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 25 and 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 27.

    Admission is $20 for ages 12 and older, $15 for ages 2 to 11, and free for kids up to age 2. Cash or check will be accepted.

    No registration is required.

    Brockton Fire Department Open House

    Brockton Fire Department's open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 540 West St.

    The open house will include demonstrations by firefighters, free pizza, and a children’s firefighter obstacle course.

    Cranberry Festival at Edaville in Carver

    Cranberry Festival at Edaville will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, and Sunday, Oct. 13, at Edaville Family Theme Park , 5 Pine St., Carver.

    The Cranberry Festival includes a flea market, craft market, steam train rides, live music, amusement rides and more.

    Tickets/admission: $12.95 and up. Children up to age 2 are admitted free.

    Church Rummage Sale, Bridgewater

    St. Thomas Aquinas Parish Center , 103 Center St., Bridgewater, will hold its fall rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12.

    Items will include clothing, books, shoes, jewelry, puzzles, household goods, bric-a-brac and more.

    A $3-a-bag sale will be held at 2 p.m.

    Church Rummage Sale, Bridgewater

    The Women’s Guild and Fellowship at Central Square Congregational Church will hold its fall rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 71 Central Square, Bridgewater.

    Featured will be family clothing, shoes, bags, accessories, housewares, linens, toys, books, jewelry and more.

    Homemade sandwiches and soups will be available for take-out.

    The bag sale begins at noon.

    All proceeds from the sale benefit local and worldwide charities.

    Elliot Farm Harvest Festival, Lakeville

    Autumn is a great time to stop by local farms. Elliot Farm in Lakeville is holding its fourth Harvest Festival from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 202 Main St.

    Visitors will enjoy a petting zoo, food trucks, live music, a bouncy house, face painting as well as traditional fall foods like apple cider or caramel apples. Beverages will include coffee, hot cocoa, apple cider, beer and wine.

    Tickets cost $5 for adults and $2 for children.

    Produce from the farm will be available to purchase from the farms' farmstand.
