The St. Mary’s County Caregivers’ Support Group will hold its next meeting 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at the Garvey Senior Activity Center. The group is designed to be a safe space for caregivers to share their experiences and learn about resources and is open to caregivers of all types, including those caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s or dementia, diagnosed with Parkinsons, recovering from a stroke, or experiencing other physical, cognitive or mental challenges. Car runs off road
On Aug. 8, emergency crews were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash on Mervell Dean Road in the area of Halford Lane in St. Mary’s County. One of two vehicle occupants was trapped and needed to be extricated by responders. Both vehicle occupants were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

On July 24, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Alcohol Enforcement Unit conducted several alcohol compliance checks within St. Mary’s County. The covert compliance checks involved using an underage sheriff’s office confidential informant. The informant was 19 years old and was accompanied by sheriff’s office Sgt. One injured in crash
On Aug. 1 emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Thompsons Corner Road in Mechanicsville. One motorist, who had been trapped in the vehicle, was transported to an area hospital after being freed by crews. Another motorist refused transport to a hospital.
