Filing is now complete for those wishing to seek a seat on the Martin County Board of Education.

Following the conclusion of filing, there will be a race for two seats on the board, including an unexpired term.

Three people will be seeking election to the District 7 seat on the school board.

Incumbent Van Heath is seeking re-election and is being challenged by Jimbo Shiver and Joyce Manning Moore. All three reside in the district and will be seeking the opportunity to represent it for the next four years.

There will also be competition for the unexpired term of Gail Cargile representing District 2.

Seeking the seat are Heisha Matthewson Lynch and Pat C. Nelson, both of Robersonville. The person elected will spend the next two years on the board.

In District 5, incumbent Renee Purvis is seeking re-election in an unopposed bid.

District 3 school board member Kenneth Harrell is not seeking re-election.

Chase Conner is seeking election to the seat in an unopposed bid.

Martin County voters will make a decision on who will represent them on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
