Lassens Natural Foods & Vitamins

Lassens is a full-service grocery store that specializes in natural and organic foods and vitamins. It originated with Hilmar and Oda Lassen who immigrated from Denmark in 1952 with 2 suitcases, a trunk and fifty dollars. Once their youngest children were in school, Oda began to explore opening her own store as she was dissatisfied with other local markets.

The flagship store was in Camarillo, but over the years the firm has expanded to 11 locations stretching from Ventura County stores in San Luis Obispo, Santa Maria & Santa Barbara down into La Brea, Los Feliz and Echo Park in Los Angeles www.lassens.com/locations/

You’ll find their staff to be friendly and very knowledgeable about the products they carry. For example, on a recent visit to my local Lassens, I was assisted by Morgan who helped me find a particular cherry juice I was looking for. You probably already know that it’s hard to find such personalized service in the major markets.
