Surfer’s Knoll Beach, located directly across the street from Ventura Harbor Village, may not be listed on anyone’s top ten beaches in Southern California. That makes it a perfect destination for those who seek solace for a family-friendly beach outing! It is open from 7 AM to sunset and dogs on leashes are welcome.

There are a very limited number of parking spaces at the beach parking lot. So, look for street parking on the west side of Spinnaker Drive. Otherwise, there is a free, large parking lot across the street at the Ventura Harbor Village.

As you walk toward the beach, you’ll first see public restrooms. On the day I visited, the lifeguard tower was operational with a lifeguard vigilantly keeping an outlook. It was an overcast day with the temperature of 68 degrees, so there were few swimmers and surfers.

There was abundant beach space available with many groups setting up an umbrella or popup tent. If walking appeals to you, head south for miles of beaches available either along the water’s edge or further back on the dry sand. Or, you can head north until you reach the rocks signaling the entrance to the Ventura harbor.

Ventura County does allow beach weddings so Surfer’s Knoll Beach might be a unique place to say “I do”. For more information, check out this link: https://www.venturaharborvillage.com/onsite-rentals/

After concluding your visit to Surfer’s Knoll, there is an outdoor shower area next to the restrooms. Bring a towel and you’ll be dry off after washing off any sand that might still be clinging to you.

If you would like to cap off your beach visit with a bite to eat or drink, check out the many restaurants across the street in the Ventura Harbor Village. You can also leisurely stroll along the waterfront and visit the gift shops before heading home!
