    Purdue announces Fall events schedule

    Purdue announced several events for students to enjoy this coming fall on Monday. The lineup of items is intended to appeal to all audiences, so all students, faculty and staff can be involved.

    Purdue Memorial Union 100th anniversary celebrations

    The Purdue Memorial Union will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a series of events from Sept. 9 to 17. The PMU will have food tastings, concerts and will finish with the opening of the PMU time capsule from 1924 and packing a new one for future Boilermakers.

    Degas collection opens at Purdue

    On Sept. 17, the PMU will unveil a collection by French impressionist Edgar Degas. Located on the second floor of the PMU, the collection includes 74 sculptures that total more than $21 million in value, the largest gift in the history of Purdue’s College of Liberal Arts, according to Purdue’s website.

    Homecoming

    Homecoming weekend begins on Sept. 27 with the parade by the All-American Marching Band. The band will continue the next day with a pregame performance at Slayter Hill before the Boilermakers take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers at Ross-Ade Stadium at noon.

    A Conversation with Yo-Yo Ma

    The Purdue Presidential Lecture Series will host renowned cellist and humanitarian, Yo-Yo Ma, to the Elliott Hall of Music on Sept. 29 for a conversation with President Mung Chiang, moderated by “PBS Newshour” correspondent Jeffrey Brown.

    Fall Family Weekend

    The first weekend of November marks the first family weekend of the academic year, with the main spectacle of Purdue football taking on the Northwestern Wildcats on Nov. 2 at Ross-Ade Stadium.
