A new Purdue News alert says Purdue police have identified the "possible abduction" as a prank.

"Purdue University police spoke with the victim and confirmed the incident was a prank," the email says.

Purdue police are investigating a potential abduction after a student reported “he witnessed two subjects get out of a car and then place a bag over a third subject’s head and put that person into the car,” according to a Purdue News alert emailed to students Friday night.

The incident was caught on camera near Hanley Hall, the email says. The suspected vehicle is reportedly a silver Toyota Camry.

PUPD told the Exponent to direct questions to “university media contacts.” The Exponent has not been able to get a response as of 12:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

The Exponent will update the story as it develops.
