Packard, Siener and Ngum sworn in Purdue Student Government for ‘24-’25 school year
Purdue Student Government formally swore in next year’s student body president, Jason Packard, and the Vice President Rebecca Siener. Shekinah Ngum was also sworn in as the vice president of the Indianapolis campus. The 2024-25 school year will be the first year that the Indianapolis campus will be included as part of Purdue Student Government. Future ballots will be a three person ticket, with one representative from the Indianapolis campus.

Triple play: Purdue softball pitchers 1-hit Cardinals
Boiler bats and lights-out pitching performances propelled Purdue past Ball State in the Boilermakers’ last non-conference game of the season. Purdue (23-22, 9-8 Big Ten) scored four runs in the fifth inning and allowed a single hit to take down Ball State (22-25, 9-11 MAC) and improve to a winning record with a 6-1 win.
Wrapping up on the road
Purdue will pay Maryland a visit this weekend for what will be both teams’ penultimate conference series. Neither team is looking at capturing an outright Big Ten Title this season. The Boilermakers (23-22, 9-8 Big Ten) and Terrapins (19-27, 4-13) claim No. 7 and 13 in the standings, respectively, but that’s not to say the Boilers can’t finish strong and secure one of the 32 at-large bids for the NCAA Tournament in May.

Lafayette man charged with rape
A Lafayette man was charged with rape and sexual battery Wednesday afternoon after allegedly attempting to forcibly pull down the victim’s pants and perform oral sex. Officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to a report of an alleged sexual assault at a business on Union Street April 17, according to the probable cause affidavit.

The next two teams to play a series in The Friendly Confines will be Purdue and Northwestern this weekend. The Boilermakers (26-15, 8-4 Big Ten) are tied for second in the Big Ten standings, whereas the Wildcats (13-23, 2-10 Big Ten) are in last. Last season, the Boilers hosted the encounter and dropped two of the three games, giving Northwestern half its Big Ten wins that season.
