Sister facing charges after threatening sister with knife near West Lafayette
A Thursday altercation between sisters turned into one threatening the other with a kitchen knife resulting in two felony and one misdemeanor charges. Around 7:30 p.m., Thursday, police were called to a residence at Woods Edge Court in rural West Lafayette. The victim called to indicate she was being threatened by her sister, Taylor Renee Kelp, 24, 281 Woods Edge Court.

Men's golf promotes Sapp to head coach
Two-year assistant men's golf coach Andrew Sapp has been promoted in the wake of former head coach Rob Bradley's departure, a Purdue Athletics release read Friday. Sapp brought a wealth of coaching experience to Purdue after having head coaching stints at East Carolina (2017-21), his alma mater North Carolina (2012-17) and the University of Michigan (2002-11). He was a part of the Purdue coaching staff from 1998 to 2002. Sapp also served as the President of the Golf Coaches Association of America from 2016-18.
Harmeyer wins again, up to $278.5K on Jeopardy!
Adriana Harmeyer, the Purdue archivist on a historic Jeopardy! streak, kept on pulling from her seemingly limitless knowledge to win again Thursday. Prosecutor files 6 child molestation charges against Lafayette man
UPDATE: Formal charges were filed by the prosecutor's office on Friday against Francisco Franco Jr., 29, on six counts of child molestation. On Jan. 29, according to court filings, a juvenile victim reported that she was molested by Franco "on multiple occasions when (she) was between the ages of 6 and 7 years of age" when she was at Franco's residence in Lafayette.

Jeopardy! "super-champion" Adriana Harmeyer won her 11th game Wednesday night to push her earnings total to $258,700 total. Harmeyer's streak is becoming increasingly remarkable; when she achieved super-champion status Tuesday night, she became one of only 17 contestants ever to do so. She is in 15th place in all-time Jeopardy! regular play winnings.
Traffic accident causes two-hour outage near campus, power now restored
UPDATE: Power has been restored at approximately 10 p.m. to a near-campus area that impacted 692 Duke Energy customers on Wednesday night. Power has gone out for 692 locations in an area near Northwestern Avenue, extending onto West Stadium Avenue and Salisbury Street, according to a Duke Energy outage map.

Lafayette certifies $64.5 million Subaru tax abatement
Lafayette’s Subaru Automotive Indiana plant, one of the only domestic producers of Subaru, is expanding to accommodate hybrid vehicles. They were granted a 10-year tax abatement by the city of Lafayette that will cover $64.5 million of the property equipment needed to make refinements, with another $5 million towards building changes.
