Purdue baseball relievers gave up 7 runs over the last three innings as the Boilers lost to visiting Illinois, 9-4, Friday night at Alexander Field. Purdue (33-21, 13-10) has lost four straight games and are 2-6 in their last 8 Big Ten games after being alone in first place a couple of weeks ago. With the win, Illinois (32-17, 17-6) clinched at tie for the regular-season Big Ten championship with one game remaining.

The Boilers were winning a pitching duel two thirds of the game against Illinois (32-17, 17-6) on Friday night. Then things came apart at the seams. It started with a seemingly innocuous walk on a full count, resulting in Purdue (33-21, 13-10) head coach Gregg Goff emerging from the dugout and the piano tune that signals a pitcher change ringing through Alexander Field. Nighttime lane closures to affect I-65 near Lafayette
The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced temporary nighttime lane closures on Interstate 65 between state roads 25 and 26 in Lafayette. Beginning on or after May 27, which is Memorial Day, crews will be closing single lanes and the shoulders of this stretch of road to do sound wall rehabilitation work, according to a news release.
Ex-WLPD officer in court on charges from frat call
Jacob Forgey, the former West Lafayette police officer facing charges of counterfeiting and official misconduct, appeared in court for his initial hearing Friday morning. Forgey, who was sworn into the force in June 2022 as one of its first additions in five years, resigned in March after a WLPD internal investigation of his body cam footage.
