UNC baseball draws challenging test for NCAA Tournament's Chapel Hill Regional

North Carolina baseball is a No. 1 seed in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

The Tar Heels (42-13), who ended the regular season as the top team in the ACC, will open against No. 4 Long Island (33-23) in the Chapel Hill Regional on Friday. No. 2 LSU (40-21) and No. 3 Wofford (41-18) are also in the regional.

The Chapel Hill Regional is paired with the Tucson Regional, which includes Arizona, Grand Canyon, West Virginia and Dallas Baptist. The winners of the two regionals will play in the super regional round.

UNC didn’t make it out of the regional round last season, but the Heels are the No. 4 national seed, which means the program is in position to host a super regional.

Regionals take place Friday through Monday. The winners of those double-elimination brackets will advance to the super regional round, a best-of-three series, from June 7-10.

The College World Series begins June 14 in Omaha.
