Food Lion upgrades stores in Cumberland County

A major supermarket chain is set to reopen numerous stores in Cumberland County following extensive renovations aimed at providing customers with a more affordable shopping experience.

Food Lion has completed a significant remodel of 167 stores across the greater Raleigh-Durham market, including 18 locations in Fayetteville, Hope Mills and Spring Lake, according to a news release. The $365 million investment aims to enhance the shopping experience for customers by introducing several new features and improvements with the reopening of remodeled stores, the release said.

These improvements include expanding its product offerings, focusing on affordable meal options that are ready-to-eat, cook or heat, the release said. Food Lion's upgrades also include eCommerce options like Food Lion To Go for pickup or home delivery, as well as energy-efficient LED lighting and refrigerated cases with doors to "help reduce its environmental footprint," the release said. In addition, Food Lion is introducing self-checkout lanes in nearly all locations.

"Food Lion has been committed to caring for its neighbors in the Raleigh-Durham area for 50 years and is excited to offer an easier and affordable shopping experience to those they serve," the release said.

Newly remodeled Food Lions in Cumberland County

A ribbon-cutting will be held at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday at each renovated store, and afterward, the first 100 customers will receive giveaways and a gift card, as well as a chance to win $1,000 in Food Lion gift cards. The following locations in Cumberland County have undergone these improvements.
