Another Seventy-First football star has earned a big-time collegiate offer.

Sophomore nose tackle John Archer landed the first college offer of his young high school career from Power 4 school Florida State on Thursday, he announced via X.

Florida State's football program is one of the more widely-known programs in the country and has won three ACC titles since joining the conference in 1991, along with three national championships in 1993, 1999 and 2013.

Archer was a significant member of the Falcons ’ 3A East championship team a year ago, which eventually fell in the 3A state title game to Hickory.

As a freshman, the 6-foot-5 320-pound Archer had 82 total tackles, being a big help on a majority of those tackles and assisting on 72, with 10 solo tackles on the season in 14 games played. Twenty-nine of those tackles were for loss and three sacks, showing his skill of getting in the backfield.

To cap off his successful freshman year, Archer earned second-team All-United 8 honors, and was selected as an honorable mention on the 2023 HighSchoolOT's All-State team.

While manning the middle of the Seventy-First veteran defense, Archer is expected to be one of the biggest recruited players in the class of 2027.
