Another high school softball star has made a college commitment.

This time, it's Cape Fear's senior slugger, Allie Dawson, who made her commitment to Elon University as she announced via X on Monday.

"From the very first time I played tee ball as a little girl, I had dreams of playing softball in college," Dawson said in a statement.

A season ago, Dawson assisted Cape Fear to the United 8 Conference championship, and went on a third round NCHSAA playoff trip where the Colts fell to Havelock on the road as one of the top performers on the team.

In 24 games, Dawson visited the plate 93 times and racked up three doubles, two triples, and two home runs in 85 at bats.

As a first team All-United 8 member last season, Dawson led the Colts in five major statistical categories: batting average with .588, on base percentage at .613, stolen bases with 10, 38 runs scored, and ran away with her amount of hits with 50.
