A Hope Mills man was announced Tuesday as a suspect in a fatal shooting on Smith Road last month, according to a news release.

Jeremiah Rahakeem Marshall, 22, is wanted for the first-degree murder of Shareek Donquale Taylor, 25, of Fayetteville. The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office states Marshall is also wanted for charges of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury.

Taylor was killed on Sept. 20 in the 1900 block of Smith Road, officials said. Deputies responded to a 911 call at 9:22 p.m. reporting a person shot and another wounded, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene, and the surviving victim was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in stable condition.

The release said warrants were obtained for Marshall on Tuesday.
